Phubbing behavior has increased rapidly. Almost everyone relies on smartphones to facilitate their daily activities. This situation different from previous eras, where there was a tendency toward excessive smartphone use, such as gadget dependency, which caused teenagers become less aware of their surroundings. This study aims to identify whether smartphone addiction, fear of missing out (FoMO), and self-control contribute to phubbing behavior. The population in this study was students of aforementioned school, using simple random sampling with sample size of 74 respondents. The research instruments were questionnaires (demographic data and the Generic Scale of Phubbing). The statistical test applied in this study was the Spearman rank test (to measure the variables correlation), with a significance level of p = 0.05. The findings indicate that Smartphone addiction, fear of missing out (FoMO), and self-control have a significant positive effect on phubbing behavior. Recommendations regarding the findings are to address the issue through self-management techniques in the form of peer groups to control, evaluate, and plan restrictions on smartphone use.
