Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Sport Science and Health Research (SSHR) undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific contribution of the published articles. The identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process.

The review process consists of the following stages:

  1. Initial Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the SSHR Online Journal System (OJS).
  2. Editorial Screening
The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Team conduct an initial evaluation to assess the manuscript's suitability with the journal's aim and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, originality, and overall scientific quality. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected or returned for revision before peer review.
  3. Peer Review
Eligible manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject area. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, methodology, significance, clarity of presentation, validity of the results, discussion, and references.
  4. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions:
    • Accept
    • Minor Revision
    • Major Revision
    • Reject
  5. Revision
Authors are required to revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' and editors' comments and submit a revised version within the specified deadline.
  6. Final Decision
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision after evaluating the revised manuscript and reviewers' recommendations. The Editor's decision is final.
  7. Copyediting and Publication
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout editing, proofreading, and online publication.

The average review process is expected to be completed within 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the extent of revisions required.

SSHR is committed to conducting a fair, objective, confidential, and timely peer-review process in accordance with the ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
